Error message: "No response from asynchronous call on task "&1" in time "&2" seconds
If you see this error message while monitoring the system, there are two possible reasons for this error:
-
No response from the executed asynchronous RFC call to the target system within the specified maximum timeout limit in seconds for the RFC ping.
-
The specific DB server is protected (e.g. by a firewall) from the SAP central system.
For further investigation, follow these steps:
-
Check the system connection.
-
Execute the functionality available at System info > Connection data > Check button.
-
Check the standard function modules RFC_PING and RFCPING.
-
If the connection checks were successful, continue with the next steps. If not, check with your basis team why the connection is not working or taking too long.
-
Check if the specific DB servers are not reachable in the System tree (red icon) or if the message "Server <host> is not responding!" is displayed.
-
Try to ping the specific IP address of the host that is not reachable from the SAP central system manually by using transaction OS01.
If the specific DB host cannot be pinged, it is most probably being blocked (e.g. by a firewall).
In this case, you need to change the default scenario to ping the server from OS level to one of the following values:
-
R: Ping functionality is executed from the remote system
-
N: Ping functionality is not executed for any server
-
-
After changing the configuration property for the ping server scenario, you can restart the collector job(s).
-
Check if the previously non-reachable DB servers are now accessible (green icon).
