System Time Zone Settings

Every monitored SAP system must have consistent time and time zone settings to be able to collect and display the monitored data as expected. Kyano CB Monitoring collects and stores all data in the global common standard time zone UTC. To be able to execute the monitoring as expected, the following prerequisites must be fulfilled:

  • The time is synchronized and correctly configured at the OS level

  • The time zone settings of the SAP system and dependent DB are configured in the same way as at the OS level

If any mismatch is detected between the system time zone and the configured time zone, a pop-up with the following message is raised when you start Kyano CB Monitoring: System time &1 and time zone &2 don't match on the central system.

Central and remote SAP system(s) can have different time settings, but it is mandatory for these settings to be consistent in each monitored SAP system itself.

You can validate the time settings in SAP systems by executing the standard report TZCUSTHELP. This report compares time zone settings between the OS and application server. For more information about this report and the time zone comparison, see SAP Note 2006897.

In addition, you can also check the SAP Notes 1791342 (Time Zone Support in SAP HANA) and 198411 (Current data and information about time zones (ABAP)).

NOTE

If the system time zone settings are not correct, contact your SAP Basis team to resolve this issue. Alternatively, you can check the following transaction codes for time zone maintenance:

  • SUO, SU3: Maintain time zone for the current user

  • STZAC: Maintain time zone for the system in the actual client

If the time system settings in SAP systems are not configured properly, you can experience the following issues:

  • Not possible to display the collected data in the selected time window.

  • If any data is dependent on the system time zone settings (e.g. background jobs or runtime errors), incorrect data is collected because the wrong time is used for the data selection.
