Extracting Long Texts
Long texts in SAP are stored in the cluster table. Therefore, you need to execute a special extraction program to obtain long texts in transparent form.
Proceed as follows to extract long texts:
-
Create a new run ID and activate it.
-
Add all desired tables except STXL to the table pool.
-
Optional: Execute the step Determine technical settings and enable hash calculation.
-
Optional: Set a data filter if only the subset of the long texts is relevant.
-
Execute the step Export the table structure (DD03L) and enable the option Add Long Text (STXL).
-
In the FEX main menu, execute the steps Generation > Create sequences followed by the step Generation > Generate programs.
-
Execute the data export for the table STXH only.
-
Export the table STXL by clicking Special > Export long texts. Here, you can use the select options for filtering criteria:
-
If the table STXL is too large, execute it in multiple jobs, for which different selection criteria (long text types) are used. These jobs must not overlap!
-
If multiple jobs are executed, submit each one with a different task number and file name, so there are no overlaps.
-
This process automatically calculates a hash for a specific task number and inserts a dummy entry to the table ZSCD_BW2_TASK. Do not execute such tasks via the monitor!
-
The export program also creates a table pool file including both tables STXH and STXL.
-
-
Export the object list for the table STXH.
-
Export the calculated hashes and line counts.
