Nearline Storage

This tab gives an overview of the nearline connection and size of the data package up to SAP BW 7.02. Data objects are grouped into data packages. When a request is loaded via DTPs, it can be parallelized at the data package level.

Creating the data archiving process in the Nearline Storage tab

We recommend keeping the size of the data package low:

  • For InfoCubes: 50 MB

  • For DSOs: 100 MB

  • For objects over 500 million records, we recommend a larger size of 200–500 MB

You can determine how a new data package is created in two ways:

  1. By defining the Maximum Size in MB:

  • For InfoCubes: 50 MB

  • For DSOs: 100 MB

  1. By defining the Maximum Number of Data Objects:

  • InfoCubes: 50

  • DSOs: 100

We do not recommend using option 2, because the size of a data object can be unpredictable.

WARNING If none of these fields is filled, this might exceed the memory limits on the application server, which will cause the archiving to fail.
