Upgrading SAP BW on HANA to BW/4HANA

This chapter explains the necessary steps when upgrading SAP BW on HANA to BW/4HANA with SNP Outboard™ Datatiering.

Before the Upgrade

1. Reload data for all DataProviders of type ODSO and delete them from SNP Outboard™ Datatiering.

2. Delete the generated VirtualProviders. To do so, in the menu bar on the SNP Outboard™ Datatiering main screen, select Other > Expert tools and execute the report /DVD/OFF_DELETE_VP. Leave the select option for DataProvider empty to delete all VirtualProviders.

After the Upgrade

1. Create an enhancement and a BAdI implementation to enable the generation of BAdI Providers.

2. Execute the steps Impact analysis and Object adjustment in the DataProvider Wizard for all relevant DataProviders.

3. In the table RSBKDTP, identify the DataProviders that are used in the data transfer processes (DTPs) as a source object. These DTPs will not extract offloaded data on BW/4HANA systems. You can also use a workaround by following this step list.
