NOTE The task InfoCube DB Statistics Rebuild is obsolete. We recommend using the task DB Statistics Rebuild instead.
Introduction

The database statistics are used in the system to optimize query performance. For this reason, database statistics should be up to date. SAP recommends always updating the statistics if more than one million new records were loaded into the InfoCube since the last update.
The database statistics can be automatically recalculated after each load or after each delta upload. To avoid unnecessary recalculations, the SNP Outboard™ Housekeeping task first determines whether the recalculation is needed, and only rebuilds the statistics afterward. The relevant InfoCubes for the statistics update can also be listed using the Test Run option in the settings definition.
The percentage of the InfoCube data that is used to create the statistics is set to 10% by default by SAP. The larger the InfoCube, the smaller the chosen percentage should be, because the demand on the system for creating the statistics increases with the change in size. The task InfoCube DB Statistics Rebuild uses the percentage as it is set up by each InfoCube.

Recommendation

Our recommendation is to execute this task regularly because it will only update the statistics for InfoCubes when needed. This will avoid unnecessary statistics updates while keeping the statistics up to date.

While statistics are being built, it is not possible to:
• Delete indexes
• Build indexes
• Fill aggregates
• Roll up requests in aggregates
• Compress requests
• Archive data
• Update requests to other InfoProviders
• Execute change runs
