Introduction
While using the POS solution, a large amount of data can be generated, which increases the data volume rapidly. Regular archiving of this data is very important.
This SNP Outboard™ Housekeeping task encapsulates the SAP NetWeaver data archiving concept by using the SARA transaction and the WRITE action. The archiving object /POSDW/TL contains information about which database tables are used for archiving. The report /POSDW/ARCHIVE_WRITE is executed at runtime.
Step List
1. In the main SNP Outboard™ Housekeeping menu, select Business Warehouse > Archiving Tasks > Archiving of Point-of-Sale Transactions and click Settings.
2. In the variant screen, you can set the criteria for the requests to be archived. For more detailed information, see the contextual help.
The settings are maintained the same way as standard SAP Housekeeping tasks.
For more information on settings, refer to the Creating a settings ID chapter of this user documentation.
Archiving of Point-of-Sale Transactions – Settings detail
There are several options for starting the task Archiving of Point-of-Sale Transactions. For more information, refer to the Executing and Scheduling Activities chapter of this user documentation.
Prerequisites
Prior to processing the POS transactions archiving, all POS transactions for the selected Store/Date combination must have one of the following statuses: Completed, Rejected or Canceled. It is also assumed that this data is no longer required to be available for SAP POS DM.
Recommendation
We recommend executing POS transactions archiving regularly. The archiving frequency is system-specific.
Note
If you are using SAP POS DM implemented on BW powered by HANA, do not use the archiving object /POSDW/TL. Use /POSDW/TLF instead.
Warning
This task works on systems where the SAP Point of Sale solution is installed. Central and satellite systems must meet these requirements. If the central system does not meet these requirements, it is not possible to create a settings variant. If satellite systems do not meet these requirements, the report /POSDW/ARCHIVE_WRITE is not found and is not executed.
