Creating a Secondary Connection to an Oracle Database
CrystalBridge® Monitoring runs on the SAP system. Therefore, it needs a secondary database connection to the Oracle database to enable the monitoring.
Proceed as follows to enable the connection to the Oracle database:
-
Start transaction DBCO. Alternatively, you can start transaction SM30, enter the DBCON in the Table/View field and click Maintain.
-
Click New Entries.
-
In the DB Connection column, enter a database connection name, e.g. ORACLE.
-
In the DBMS column, enter ORA.
-
Enter a valid username and DB password.
NOTE This user is not an SAP user, but this user must exist on the Oracle database. It must have predefined read authorizations for the monitoring as described in the chapter Prerequisites for the Oracle Connect User.
-
In the Conn. info column, enter an identifier for the database connection. For more information about database identification, see SAP Note 808505.
-
Click Save.
-
The connection has been enabled.
You can check whether the database connection was created via transaction DBCO or in the table DBCON. Once the connection is created and saved, you can test it by executing the report ADBC_TEST_CONNECTION or directly via transaction DBACOCKPIT.
