Guided Configuration

The Guided Configuration (GC) is a function in the CrystalBridge® Interface Discovery Client that assists with the initial configuration as well as with the reconfiguration of the CB ID database that is necessary during operation. The Guided Configuration provides a consistent configuration that is as complete as possible. In addition, it establishes SNP Best Practices that are based on project experience. At the same time, it significantly reduces the time and number of people required for the configuration.

Prerequisites

  • The Guided Configuration is enabled in the CB ID license (automatically enabled as of CB ID 21.11.00)
  • Optional: The CB ID Client component GC is installed.
  • The GC function in the CB ID Client is enabled either system-wide or for the relevant user (profile parameter GCEnabled)
HINWEIS

The Guided Configuration component is installed as part of the CB ID Client installation (ID setup). It is sufficient to install the GC Service in the environment where GC functions will be used (PC or server). It is possible to install the GC Service in multiple environments, but the users making adjustments to the configuration with/without GC should coordinate their work.

To avoid differing versions between CB ID and the Guided Configuration, a version check is performed when starting CB ID. If a deviation is found, a warning appears and the Guided Configuration is not started.

In this case, delete the GC folder in the ID Client installation directory and run the ID Client setup to reinstall the Guided Configuration component.
